5.10 Wool containing impurities increased, prices continued to fall

North

Merino Fleece: The northern market index fell by 18 Australian cents, with all types falling by 15-20 Australian cents. The price of 19.5 micron wool fell by 40 Australian cents, with a small number of good quality wool with low vegetable matter content receiving buyer support.

Merino Pieces: The price of 16 micron pieces with less than 3% vegetable matter remained unchanged, and the price of 17 micron coarse good quality wool also remained stable. Buyers did not prefer types with high vegetable matter content, and prices fell by 20-30 Australian cents.

Crossbred: Supply of 27 micron and coarser wool is limited, and prices for FNF and general types with lengths of 90-120mm remained firm.

Second Cut: Consistent with other wools, prices fell by 40 Australian cents today. Prices for skirting continued to soften, and leg and breech wool prices also fell significantly.

 

South

Merino Fleece: The overall market declined, with poorer quality wool with high vegetable matter falling or failing to sell, leading to an overall market decline. At closing, the price of 18 micron fine wool fell by 10-15 Australian cents, and the price of 18 micron coarse wool fell by 30-40 Australian cents. Seller resistance intensified, buyer market weakened, and the failure rate was 37%.

Merino Pieces: Pieces with less than 2% vegetable matter fell by 10-15 Australian cents, while those with more than 5% vegetable matter fell by 25-30 Australian cents.

Crossbred: Crossbred wool was the only type supporting the entire market, with prices only changing slightly.

Second Cut: Merino second cut wool prices fell by 40-50 Australian cents.

 

West

Merino Fleece: The Fremantle fleece market continued to fall, with prices declining and sellers withdrawing wool. Only 25% of fleece was supplied, yet prices still fell by 15-35 Australian cents. The failure rate was 51%.

Merino Pieces: The price of 18.5 micron fine pieces fell by 40-45 Australian cents, and the price of stained and leg/breech wool fell by 10-20 Australian cents.

Second Cut: The price of skirting fell by 30-40 Australian cents, and the price of stained and leg/breech wool, with lower supply, fell by 10-20 Australian cents.
