On March 22, an electric bicycle battery caught fire in a residential building in Longtan Beili Community, Longtan Street, Dongcheng District. The cause of the fire was a battery fault. The faulty battery belonged to a resident in the building, was a second-hand battery, and had been in use for 6 to 7 years.
Guanghuaimenwai Street, Xicheng District
On March 22, an electric tricycle battery caught fire in the living room of a resident's home on Guanghuaimenwai Street, Xicheng District. The cause of the fire was an internal fault in the lithium battery. The faulty battery was a Xingheng brand 48V24Ah battery purchased from Taobao.

Laiguangying Township, Chaoyang District
On March 23, an electric toy car battery caught fire in the home of a resident in the International City, Laiguangying Township, Chaoyang District. The cause of the fire was spontaneous combustion of the toy car battery while it was being stored. The toy car was purchased online.
Bajiao Street, Shijingshan District
On March 23, an electric bicycle battery caught fire in the home of a resident at No. 69, Jingyang East Street, Bajiao Street, Shijingshan District. Four trapped people were rescued from the scene, and two were injured. The preliminary cause of the fire was determined to be thermal runaway of the lithium battery during charging.
Data shows that 80% of electric vehicle fires occur during charging and 90% of electric vehicle fires resulting in casualties are due to electric vehicles parked in entrances and corridors etc.
