Tribute to the heroes of Wenchuan!

Every May 12th, we inevitably recall 2008.

The 5.12 earthquake that year resulted in devastating casualties.

Fifteen years have passed.

 

Today, we silently mourn in our hearts.

For the more than 70,000 compatriots who perished in the Wenchuan earthquake!

 

Today, in our hearts, we pay tribute to many people and to their valuable spirit!

The spirit of unity that moved China and the world!

 

15 years have passed, and some details may have faded.

But when I mention Wenchuan, I think of the term "Wenchuan Warriors".

I think of those 15 heroic paratroopers!

 

15 years later, one scene remains etched in my mind.

The plane circling in the sky!

Outside the plane, it was shrouded in smoke, nothing was visible.

But the 15 heroic paratroopers resolutely jumped from an altitude of 5000 meters!

 

What does it mean to parachute from 5000 meters?

This is a beyond-the-limits parachute jump!

 

The higher the altitude, the thinner the air and the lower the temperature.

Physiologically, it becomes very difficult for a person to endure.

The Wenchuan earthquake affected areas mostly located on high plateaus, with high altitudes, low temperatures, and low oxygen levels.

3000 meters is already the limit for parachuting.

The usual training altitude for Chinese paratroopers is around 1000 meters.

Parachuting from 5000 meters was simply unimaginable before!

 

The 15 brave paratroopers were also ordinary people.

Faced with an unprecedented height, they also felt fear.

But with a heavy responsibility on their shoulders, they had no choice!

The people in the earthquake-stricken area were still waiting for their rescue!

 

After these 15 warriors resolutely jumped, terrifying scenes appeared on the television screen!

Most of the paratroopers' parachutes did not open, and they fell directly in freefall!

Some paratroopers, as soon as they jumped out of the cabin, their large red parachutes fully opened, and were immediately blown to the upper left by the wind, flying out of the screen!

Some fell rapidly downwards.

Some flew upwards.

Who among them was safe?

Who was in danger?

Did they land safely?

 

Watching the live television broadcast, the hearts of 1.3 billion people were hanging!

People kept asking online: How are they doing?

So worried!

 

Soon, different news came from the internet.

Some said:

2 were sacrificed...

 

Some said:

Their parachutes didn't open; several of them made a forced jump. They fell like free falls, it was terrible...

 

Some said:

The cameraman stopped filming halfway through the air. Because the following scenes were too horrific...

 

Why were so many "death reports" coming in?

Because this parachute jump was extremely dangerous!

If they didn't value the people's lives above all else, they wouldn't have let their soldiers take such a risky jump.

 

At that time, at an altitude of 5000 meters in the plane, white clouds blocked the view, and the ground was completely invisible.

After these 15 people jumped, they didn't know whether they would land on steep cliffs or rushing rivers!

Without suitable landing conditions, they would have been doomed!

Therefore, some called it a "suicide" jump!

 

Why were these warriors so selfless, making such a tragic jump?!

The commander's words carried immense weight:

"The time has come for the Party and the people to test us! "

 

Originally, the villagers who had been trapped for nearly 48 hours were in a state of despair and numbness.

Because the mountain roads they could escape from were blocked, and they couldn't make emergency calls.

They watched helplessly as their loved ones trapped under the rubble stopped breathing one by one.

They all felt that they had been abandoned.

 

Just when they were at their breaking point, they saw the most beautiful parachute blossoms in the sky!

When the 15 paratroopers landed on the ground one after another, the villagers saw hope again!

The villagers swarmed to the paratroopers who had landed, shouting excitedly:

"The Party and the state haven't forgotten us, we're saved! "

 

After the paratroopers landed, they finally re-established contact with the outside world.

Then, rescue work quickly unfolded.

 

At that time, every Chinese person had mixed emotions.

On the one hand, we felt heartbroken for the young People's Liberation Army soldiers.

Their "suicide-style" rescue efforts are truly admirable.

 

On the other hand, we feel incredibly fortunate to live in great China!

Just look!

Look at the selfless rescue efforts of the Chinese government after each disaster!

No regrets about being born in China!

Only during major disasters can we truly appreciate the weight of this statement!

 

When Chinese citizens are in danger, the motherland always appears at the first moment!

Whether it's domestic disaster relief or overseas evacuation, there's no hesitation!

No matter where you are, we will always bring you back safely!

 

However, all this is not taken for granted.

Behind all the peace and quiet, there are people silently bearing the burden!

 

These 15 brave warriors are heroes among us!

No matter how much time passes, we must never forget them.

These heroes once sacrificed their lives for the people!

Why shouldn't we treat them well?!
