The China-Australia wool joint working group meeting was held in Kyoto, Japan

On the afternoon of May 16, 2023, at 6:00 PM, the Sino-Australian Wool Joint Working Group meeting was held in Kyoto, Japan. This was the first time the members from both sides had gathered in four years since the pandemic.


The meeting was chaired by Ms. Yang Xiaoxiong, the Chinese head of the Sino-Australian Working Group and Chairperson of Nanjing Wool Market. Attendees included Liu Jiaqiang, President of the China Wool Textile Industry Association; Ji Qianlong, Chairman of Zhangjiagang Yangzi Fine Combed Top Co., Ltd.; Yang Shaowei, General Manager of Zhejiang Hongtaiyang Wool Textile Co., Ltd.; Guo Linlin, Manager of Tianyu Wool Industry (Zhangjiagang Bonded Zone) Co., Ltd.; and Jiang Ming, Sales Manager of Zhejiang Xin Zhonghe Wool Co., Ltd.

The meeting involved in-depth discussions on the status of the Chinese and Australian wool industries, production forecasts, contingency plans for animal disease outbreaks, recent Australian wool quality issues, the implementation progress of electronic wool bales, the sustainability of sheep farming in Australia and China, and matters related to the Wool College training program. Both Chinese and Australian sides reached a consensus on many aspects and will work together for the healthy development of the wool industry.
