Get to work!
Jiang Yueping
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Nantong's designation as one of the first coastal open cities in China. Over the past 40 years, Nantong has transformed from a relatively isolated city to a thriving hub, evolving from an industrial powerhouse to a "trillion-yuan city." This remarkable transformation, underpinning high-quality development, is attributable to the hard work and dedication of over 7.7 million people in the region, who have embraced reform and innovation, seized opportunities, and demonstrated a resolute commitment to overcoming challenges.
Every achievement in our progress and development is the result of the collective efforts and hard work of the entire city. In the face of increasingly fierce regional competition, we must remain steadfast and determined, redoubling our efforts and working diligently to achieve our goals. Only through such dedication and commitment can we achieve our next trillion-yuan economy and accelerate the development of a key growth pole for high-quality development in the province.
Time waits for no one, opportunities wait for no one, and development waits for no one! Last month's 8th Plenary Session of the 13th Nantong Municipal Committee called on the entire city to strengthen confidence, work hard, and take on greater responsibilities. We must firmly grasp the primary task of high-quality development and accelerate the creation of a key base for new productive forces.
In competition with the best, standing still is equivalent to falling behind. In all aspects of our work, diligence leads to progress, while complacency leads to decline. There is no room for complacency. Every party member and cadre should reflect on whether they have ignored difficulties, avoided contradictions, retreated in the face of adversity, circumvented problems, or given up at the first sign of setback. We must constantly remind ourselves to maintain a proactive and hardworking attitude, focusing on development, project implementation, industrial development, improving people's livelihoods, and optimizing the business environment. We must implement and achieve the decisions and deployments of the provincial and municipal committees step by step.
We must demonstrate a proactive and ambitious spirit, striving for excellence. We must consciously benchmark our work against provincial, national, and global standards, using a world-class perspective to evaluate our work, employing world-class standards in our planning, and driving development with a world-class approach. We must strive for excellence in everything we do, aiming to be the best and striving for first place.
We must demonstrate the courage and ability to overcome challenges. We must focus on the difficulties in development, social pain points, obstacles to reform, and public concerns, tackling challenges head-on and persevering despite pressure. We must overcome obstacles, build bridges, and take responsibility, effectively resolving problems to ensure efficient work implementation.
We must demonstrate a commitment to long-term efforts and achieving sustainable results. We must establish and uphold the correct concept of performance, embracing the spirit of "achieving success without necessarily seeking personal credit" and the historical responsibility of "achieving success for the benefit of all." We must work hard, continue to strive, and seize and utilize every opportunity, ensuring that every task is completed successfully.
