In grassroots units, there is sometimes a phenomenon of "Party members doing the work, and the masses watching"; even worse, in a few units, not even "the masses watching" is happening, resulting in the phenomenon of "no masses around the Party members."

"No masses around the Party members" may seem harmless on the surface, but in reality, it is very harmful. For Party members, advanced nature is untouchable, and there is no room to play an exemplary role; for grassroots Party organizations, political functions and organizational functions become empty talk, and cohesion, creativity, and combat effectiveness become water without a source. If this continues for a long time or spreads, it will loosen the Party's governing foundation, weaken the Party's leading position, and affect reform, development, stability, and the process of modernization.

"No masses around the Party members" is essentially a serious illness of detachment from the masses. If only a very small number of Party members are like this, then the cause lies in the individual Party members; if a unit is like this, then the cause often lies in the political ecology of that unit; if some Party members in different units are like this, then the cause may come from the grassroots Party building, style of work, and other aspects of that place. Only by treating the symptoms and implementing comprehensive treatment can the healthy normal state of the relationship between the Party and the masses, like fish and water, be restored.

To forge iron, one must first make oneself strong. If every Party member is qualified, there will be no "no masses around the Party members." Grassroots Party committees and branches are the direct entities responsible for educating and managing Party members. They must seize the entry and exit points to strictly manage the Party members, strictly control the entry point, and clear the exit point; strengthen daily education and concentrated education to improve the quality of Party members, strictly implement the "three meetings and one lesson," themed Party days, and other Party internal organizational life systems, explore methods for classifying the management of Party members from different groups, and urge the vast number of Party members to strictly demand themselves according to the standards of advanced nature, always staying ahead and setting an example. It is necessary to deepen the reform of the grassroots management system, promote the sinking of resources, and ensure that the support is tilted, so that the vast number of Party members can carry out mass work with the feelings of serving the people and ideas in mind, so that more people can benefit and gain real benefits, and enhance their sense of gain.

Green mountains and clear waters make people feel refreshed, and a good political ecology promotes people's hearts towards the Party. Eliminating the phenomenon of "no masses around the Party members" requires rectifying the political ecology of a place and a unit. It is necessary to clearly establish the correct orientation for selecting and appointing people, assessment and evaluation, and establish and practice the correct concept of performance; weave a tight network of systems that make it impossible, difficult, and undesirable to be corrupt, correct the phenomenon of privileges, dishonest behavior, and unhealthy trends such as formalism and bureaucratism, and strive to enable Party cadres to want to do, dare to do, and do well, establish a good image among the masses, and enhance their credibility. It is necessary to firmly grasp the value orientation, follow the mass line, develop whole-process people's democracy, ask the people what they need and what they think, think what the people think, and do what the people ask, so that what the Party members do matches what the people expect, and truly put good things into the hearts of the people.
