Demonstration Zone 2024 First Half Economic and Social Development Briefing Held

On September 5th, a briefing on the economic and social development of the demonstration zone in the first half of 2024 was held to convey the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and report on the economic and social development of the demonstration zone since the beginning of this year. Lu Zhong Hua, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Demonstration Zone, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Shi Hong Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee, gave a report on the situation.

Lu Zhong Hua pointed out that the achievements in economic and social development in the first half of the year were inseparable from the joint efforts of the entire region and embodied the wisdom and hard work of the vast number of people's congress representatives, political advisors, and all veteran comrades. The demonstration zone will provide all-round assistance to enterprises, work diligently, and firmly determine to "ensure task completion and victory for the whole year." With the courage and responsibility of "being in the forefront and setting an example" and the style of "down-to-earth and practical work," it will unswervingly complete the annual economic and social development goals and tasks. It will leverage breakthroughs in the construction of the Tongzhou Bay Petrochemical Dual Circulation Base to promote the implementation of national strategies and accelerate the creation of a leading domestic and world-class high-end petrochemical industry base with a full industrial chain. It will leverage breakthroughs in major port-based industrial projects to promote the integrated development of ports, cities, and industries, improve the mechanism for coordinating the advancement of major projects, and promote the early completion and production of a number of large and good projects such as Folai Te and Huaneng. It will leverage breakthroughs in high-level regional cooperation platforms to build a new landmark for Jiangsu's marine industry development, accelerate the joint construction of industrial integration and development cooperation platforms, deepen cooperation with high-quality local state-owned enterprises, universities, and research institutes, and create a provincial-level marine characteristic industrial park and a supply base for industrial chains and supply chains in the Yangtze River Delta region. It will upgrade from simply attracting large projects to attracting and cultivating chain-leading enterprises, continuously focusing on the leading industries, attracting and cultivating chain-leading enterprises with strong integration capabilities and significant driving effects, and related supporting enterprises with strong relevance and high coupling degree, and improving the efficiency of investment attraction. It will upgrade from traditional park construction to industrial cluster construction, deeply implement industrial strengthening, supplementing, and extending chains, improve the level of new industrialization of enterprises and the degree of industrial chain aggregation, and cultivate new development advantages. It will upgrade from the functional construction of small areas to serving the development of "Greater Tongzhou Bay," continuously improving urban quality, improving the quality of cooperation and co-construction of famous schools and hospitals, and serving the needs of talents to live and work in peace and contentment.

Lu Zhong Hua emphasized that at the new historical starting point of promoting comprehensive deepening reforms and economic and social development, it is even more necessary to widely gather the power of wisdom. He hoped that veteran comrades would further give full play to their experience and prestige advantages, and continue to provide guidance and advice for the leap-forward development of Tongzhou Bay; people's congress representatives and political advisors should better play their role in participating in politics and government affairs and making suggestions and recommendations, combining their respective positions, actively participating in the main battlefield of economic construction, the forefront of reform and tackling tough problems, and the first line of grassroots governance, and making new and greater contributions to promoting the modernization of Tongzhou Bay. The Party Working Committee and Administrative Committee of the demonstration zone will adhere to placing the work of veteran cadres in an important position, fully implement the Party's policies on the work of veteran cadres, and continuously enhance the veteran comrades' sense of political honor, organizational belonging, and happiness in life; work together with everyone to continuously advance the new practice of Chinese-style modernization in Tongzhou Bay.

Shi Hong Jie said in his report that since the beginning of this year, the demonstration zone has resolutely implemented the central government's decisions and deployments and the work requirements of the provincial and municipal committees, with rapid growth in economic indicators, strong momentum in project construction, significant results in industrial improvement, solid progress in scientific and technological innovation, continuous optimization of the business environment, continuous consolidation of people's livelihood foundation, solid progress in rural revitalization, a generally stable situation in safety production, strong leadership of Party building, unremitting efforts to rectify styles and discipline, and striving to win the "first half" and achieve "double over-half". In the next stage, the demonstration zone will fully implement the deployments of the 7th Plenary Session of the 14th Provincial Committee and the 8th Plenary Session of the 13th Municipal Committee, as well as the requirements of Secretary Wu's investigation into the work of Tongzhou Bay, strengthen confidence, boost morale, severely crack down on economic operation, strengthen investment attraction, attack the construction of major projects, accelerate industrial improvement, continuously strengthen the bottom-line thinking, and make every effort to create a clean and upright environment for undertaking and starting businesses, unswervingly achieve the annual goals and tasks, and welcome the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with solid achievements in high-quality development.
