Recently, the Demonstration Zone's Integrated Law Enforcement Bureau held the launch ceremony for the first National Urban Household Waste Classification Publicity Week and the opening day event for the waste classification publicity base. Twenty people participated in the event, including staff from government agencies and enterprises in the demonstration zone, students, and community residents. Through on-site visits to the classification education exhibition hall, prize-winning quizzes, and VR experiences of waste classification, the event promoted the work processes and mechanisms of waste classification, collection, and disposal, encouraging public participation and correct classification to jointly safeguard the clean and orderly urban living environment of the demonstration zone.
According to staff from the Integrated Law Enforcement Bureau, on May 18, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and four other departments jointly issued the "Notice on Carrying Out the 'National Urban Household Waste Classification Publicity Week' Activities," designating the fourth week of May each year as the National Urban Household Waste Classification Publicity Week. The first National Urban Household Waste Classification Publicity Week ran from May 22 to 28, 2023, with the theme "Making Waste Classification a New Fashion."
Next steps for the demonstration zone will involve leveraging this National Urban Household Waste Classification Publicity Week, combining it with the creation of civilized cities and "Urban Management into Communities" initiatives. This will strengthen public education and guidance, promote inter-departmental coordination, and build a powerful synergy for waste classification. The goal is to continuously enhance the waste classification awareness of residents in the demonstration zone and promote a green and low-carbon lifestyle across society.
